Transfer Case Service

Home » Snappy Services® » Transfer Case Service

Transfer cases are located on four-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles. The function of this gearbox is to divide power and torque between the front and rear differentials. Because the transfer case controls the amount of torque sent to the differentials, it produces a substantial amount of pressure, heat, and friction. This combination of pressure, heat, and friction causes the additives in transfer case fluid to gradually breakdown. As the fluid breaks down, small metal gear shavings begin to break away. These impurities mix with the deteriorating fluid.

Snappy Lube technicians can assist you with the service necessary to preserve your transfer case. We will remove and inspect your check and drain plugs for damage, evacuate your old contaminated transfer case fluid, refill the gearbox using the manufacturer’s recommended viscosity of the proper type fluid for your vehicle, and safety check you plugs and transfer case for any type of leak.

Properly servicing your transfer case will minimize wear, protect against and gear failure, guard against corrosion, and prolong the life of your transfer case.
